A. Education

1. Honor Card Program—Businesses/School Partnership- Businesses offer incentive to reward good grades

2. Character First Program—Promotes good character traits among our young people in area schools

3. Annual Career Fair—Targets high school juniors. Offers exposure to colleges, universities, military and various industries for possible career opportunities

4. Leadership Texarkana Program—Program designed to develop future leaders in Texarkana by interacting with community leaders at planned monthly work shops

5. Ongoing Small Business Seminars—Designed to educate new, growing or ailing businesses

6. SCORE – Service Center of Retired Employees'


B. Economic Development

1. Industrial Development and Recruitment

a. Work with prospective industries for all of Texarkana
b. Bring new industries to Texarkana
c. Work with existing industries for local expansion
d. Consult with approximately 100 companies annually about relocating to Texarkana or about expanding existing businesses

2. Highway Expansions—the Chamber has led the effort in promoting highway expansions through Texarkana

3. New-Comers Packets—Deliver approximately 300-400 new-comer packets annually.

4. Tourism—Tourism generates revenues of $160 Million. Texas and Arkansas contract with the Chamber to develop and administer a tourism development program.

1. Host annual Legislative Dinner and Reception
2. Buffalo Gnat Control Program
3. Military Affairs Committee—Solicits continued funding for Red River Army Depot and Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant

6. Newcomer List -for $20 a month the Chamber will supply the member with a list of individuals who have inquired with the receptionist on information to relocate to Texarkana.

8. Web site – This website is totally interactive. Banner advertisements are available to our members along with web site links. All of our members will be classified according to their business classification. Referrals off the web will automatically rotate from member to member. VISIT: www.texarkana.org
9. The Chamber of Commerce only refers, recommends, or purchases from our Chamber Members. The Chamber only promotes Chamber Member Publications..
10. First Friday is a program that started in three years ago. This is a breakfast program held from 8-9 a.m. the first Friday of the month. A program is presented and sponsorship of this event is available.
